Elle Ferguson – They All Hate Us

Elle Ferguson and Tash Sefton – the notorious fashion BFF’s fronting the Australian Fashion Blogger pack. Being a fashion blogger may seem easy but in reality there is a heck of lot that goes into running a blog, and a successful one at that.

I thought it would be a good idea to get in touch with Elle and ask her a few questions. I mean really, how does she alwayslook that good? What does she do that I don’t?

Being in the fashion sphere there is a lot of pressure to look good, and to look good all the time. How do you manage to keep your skin relatively normal when going from shoots to events? What products do you use?

Elle: there is SO much pressure! I swear by a weekly spray tan cause it just makes me look ‘alive’ and without it I don’t really feel like me. Other than that I always ensure to take my make up off each night or after a big shoot, I like my skin to feel squeaky clean. My skin is very temperamental so I find that I have to keep mixing it up. I’m loving at the moment if I get a blemish the drying solution from Mecca cosmetics because it works miracles overnight. I’ve also swapped all my cleanses and moisturisers to organic from a salon in Paddington called Venustus which I’m loving.

What does your everyday look involve?

Elle: in my head I like to imagine I’m a little off duty mixed with a Victoria secrets Angel (like I said in my head) so this always involves super clean skin, bronzer, I love blush for that slightly flushed look, mascara with some added individual lashes, white eye liner and some shimmer on my cheek bones. On my lips just paw paw

What are your favourite make up products?

Elle: there is this lip and cheek tint from these amazing LA girls called By Rosie and I’m obsessed with it! Other than that Giogio Armani luminous silk foundation is a miracle worker, nars bronzer in Laguna, benefit are they real mascara and my Kevin aucoin eyelash curler

Since working in the fashion industry, what is the best beauty advice you have been given?

Elle: smile!!! Umm I’ve learnt that moisturiser is very important and what you out on the inside shows on the outside… I swear by this! And sleep!!! I don’t sleep much a my night so if I can steal a nanna nap in the afternoon or between shoots it’s amazing

Do you believe in the nutritional benefits certain foods can have on your skin? If so, please elaborate?

Elle: I swear by alkaline water, we have a machine joined to the taps at my mums house so all the water you drink, cook with and wash your face with is alkalined. Also a carrot and green apple juice at least once a day makes yours eyes whiter.

Looking back, with the experience you now have, was there anything you were doing “wrong” in terms of beauty routines and applying make up etc?

Elle: let’s just say bleaching my hair white blonde and thinking I was killing it was a massive mistake. Everyone around me kept saying maybe you should grow it out or go back to your natural colour and I thought they were crazy. Turns out I was wrong and looked like barbie… A look that just did not suit me

What has been your most regrettable beauty stuff up?

Elle: hmmm there’s been so many… Body glitter, drawing on a beauty spot, over waxed eyebrows, too many spray tans… I’d have to say at the top of the list was cutting a fringe (I have naturally curly hair so managing a straight fringe was just not good)
