IZI SIMUNDIC
Having first met Isabel on the set of the hit reality TV show Australia’s Next Top Model, I thought it would be a great opportunity to pick her brain. Since the show, Isabel has been working steadily as a model so I thought why not ask her about her beauty routine? How as a model, does one maintain a soft, youthful look when they’re constantly working?
What did you learn from being on ANTM about makeup and beauty products? Were you doing things “wrong” previously? Did you learn any tips?
Before the show I never wore any makeup, mostly because I wasn’t great at applying it. I realised I was putting bronzer where the blush was supposed to go and blush where the bronzer was supposed to go. During the show we learnt a lot about makeup because we were having it professionally done every day. Nadine was very inspiring to watch doing makeup, she focuses a lot on prepping the skin to create a glow, then blending in the makeup. I also learnt a lot from Liz Kelsh, who always kept an eye out for me.
What does your beauty routine involve now? What are your favourite products to use?
I love a natural look, keeping the skin fresh and adding tinted moisturizer to the rest. I love lots of bronzer and earthy eye shadows. My favourite products are my NARS brow gel, Butter London – nude nail polish, a really thick Jurlique moisturizer and Petalhead ‘Spiced Rose’ lip blam.
What’s your go-to/everyday look and favourite brands to use?
Every day I massage in some Jojoba oil, a tinted red lip balm, creamy bronzer and a killer facial as a base. Melanie Grant does an amazing radiance facial that leaves your face glowing.
You seem to travel a fair bit with your blog The Editorialist, how do you manage your routine while on the go? Do you wear much make up when you’re travelling?
Travel is always a struggle, because any long flights really throw my body off track. I try my best to drink lots of water during a flight (NEVER any plane food) and pack lots of fresh fruit and veggies. Wherever I am, I try to quickly make friends with the hotel gym 😉
How would you do your hair & make up for the following?
Glam
When it’s somewhere glam, I love to have someone else do it. I have a very simple routine 99% of the time – so I love to leave it in someone else’s hands.
Work
I do the same waved blow-dry in my hair most days, with really fresh skin and a little bronzer.
Summer Holiday Events
Summer days are my favourite time to get ready. Tanned skin, salty hair and lots of gloss, highlighter and bronzer.
Night Out On The Town With The Girls
Depending on the occasion you might see me with a little mascara 😉 and loose waves.
Beach Holiday
Everything fresh and natural
What are your thoughts on facials and skin treatments
I’m not a fan of anything invasive, but I do think a facial can be great. I really love the Radiance Facial from Melanie Grant.
Do you believe in nutritional benefits for your skin? What advice would you give?
100% I really believe good skin is the result of great digestive health, along with balanced hormones and stress kept at a minimum. Of course it isn’t always possible to have these three at the same time, but eating well, lots of water and no drinking/smoking makes an immense difference.
